Dear Canyon Heights Families,
I’m excited to announce that the next Caribou Math Contest starts next week… and Canyon Heights students will be able to take the test online from home! When is the test? The contest will be open for our students from 7:30 am on Wednesday April 8th until 3:30 pm on Thursday April 9th. Where do I take the test online? Go to cariboutests.com – when the test is live you will see ‘Take the test’ in large red letters in the top right corner of the website. Click on them and it will take you to the login. How long is the test? Once students have signed in they will have a maximum of 60 minutes to complete the test. Does my child need a password to log in? Yes. If your child does not have their id and password details written down, please email me before hand (sooner is better) and I will forward them on to you. My email is icunliffe (this is where you’d put in an @ sign) sd44.ca. My child would like to take the test but they haven’t done it before. Is that OK? Yes. I do have the ability to request extra log in codes, please email me with your child’s full name and grade, and I will send you one. Emailing me a day or two in advance of the test greatly increases the likelihood that I can provide you with a log in code. What grades can take the test? As this test is being conducted at home, the test will be open for students in grades 2 and up. Can I see sample questions? Yes, sample questions from previous tests can be found here. ***Note*** this section may be unavailable just prior to and during the active test period. Is there a history question for the April Test? For students in grades 3 and up there will be a history question on Sir Isaac Newtown What math game will be featured? For grade 2 students, the mazes game will be on the test. For grades 3+ the game will be iChomp. Practice games can be found here. ***Note*** It’s a great idea for students to become familiar with the game before the test. The practice games section of the Caribou Math contest will be unavailable as of Tuesday, so make a point of checking it out beforehand. Good luck to you all! Ian ‘Mr. C’ Cunliffe
